INDICTMENT – UNMASKING SPECULATION

These are not yet confirmed by the DOJ or official sources so I’m labeling them as speculation for now. The conclusions are from journalists crossing the indictment info with public information and the process of elimination. That being said, the U.S. Company-1 is 99.99% Tenet Media with the Canadian Company-1 being Roaming USA Corp.

The owners of Tenet Media are Lauren Chen (Lauren Yu Sum Tam) and her husband, Liam Donovan.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Aric Toler of the New York Times and previously Bellingcat has published an ongoing Twitter thread with breakdowns and unmasking of details from the indictment.
    • “A new DoJ indictment alleges that RT employees “covertly fund[ed] and direct[ed]” a US company with $10m in order to push pro-Russia content. The company is based in Tennessee. There is one media company based in Tennessee with the same phrase listed in the indictment…”

That company, Toler speculates, is Tenet Media (this has now been confirmed–see Official Reports above). The key phrase from the indictment and the Tenet Media site: “a network of heterodox commentators that focus on
Western political and cultural issues
.”

From page 7 of the indictment.

The Tenet Media website lists their “talent” as the following:

  • Tim Pool
  • Benny Johnson
  • Lauren Southern
  • Tayler Hansen
  • Matt Christiansen
  • Dave Rubin

Editor’s Note:

Tim Pool and Benny Johnson’s tweets falsely claim the DOJ indictment was “leaked.” This is not true. It was unsealed.

The first paragraph of the DOJ’s press release states, “An indictment charging Russian nationals Kostiantyn Kalashnikov, 31, also known as Kostya, and Elena Afanasyeva, 27, also known as Lena, with conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) and conspiracy to commit money laundering was unsealed today (9/4/24) in the Southern District of New York. Kalashnikov and Afanasyeva are at large.

Editor’s Note #2:

Tim Pool has since deleted his original tweet and replaced it with a corrected version. The new tweet removes any reference to a “leaked” indictment.

* Editor’s Note:

The Team YouTube Twitter account responded (1, 2) to Tayler Hansen’s tweet saying he was permanently banned to clarify the situation:

1. YouTube only banned Hansen’s Tenet Media-associated account: “the screenshot you shared shows a notice we sent on Sept 5 after the termination of Tenet Media & associated channels, including a Tayler Hansen channel w/ 0 uploads or subscribers.”
2. Hansen’s personal channel, TaylerUSA, that he actually posted on, was deleted “by its owner.”
